Isis nursing Horus were particularly common during
the late period (747 – 332 BC). Made for the faithful,
the statuettes were generally thanksgiving offering
dedicated to he goddess Isis as the embodiment of the
universal mother. They were placed in sanctuaries to
thank the goddess for an easy childbirth, to ask for her
protection or to look after the young.
